ABSTRACT

Community policing is a proactive policing tactic that is employed by the police of Bangladesh. The primary principle of community policing is to create a harmonious communal life via joint efforts on the part of both the police and the community. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of community policing in Bangladesh in terms of its philosophy, based on secondary data sources. The data were described using descriptive and qualitative methodologies. The study found that many different methods of community policing have been applied in Bangladesh, to date, but that, in its contemporary form, community policing was first deployed in 1990 in Bangladesh’s Mymensing district. Currently, community policing is being practiced in many districts throughout Bangladesh, without any reference to the philosophical aspects of community policing, such as collaboration, organizational reform, and problem-solving. To secure the safety of the community, as well as to maintain order with in, the philosophical component of community policing in Bangladesh should be examined.
