Bachelor of Social Sciences in Political Science

Department of political science has been offering Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) degree in political science since 1938. In each academic year, more than two hundred students are enrolled in the BSS Honors program through an admission test conducted by the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Arts.This program involves an analysis of the ways in which individuals and groups define and interpret political issues and seek to shape government decisions. It encompasses a broad spectrum of activities relating to public affairs, governance, comparative government, political thought, and international politics.

The duration of BSS program is four years divided into eight semesters. Students are required to take 32 courses for a total of 3200 marks and 128 credit hours. Each full course consists of 100 marks and all courses are compulsory. In addition, there will be a viva-voce of 12.5 marks for each semester. The newly introduced curriculum is innovative, which ensures that students learn about politico-social affairs that directly affect their lives and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

COURSES OF STUDY

* The syllabus has been designed for the students of Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honors) Program in Political Science for the sessions 2012-13 to 2017-18.

* The BSS (Honors) Program shall be of Four Years duration divided into 8 (eight) Semester.

* Students are required to take 32 courses for a total of 3200 marks and 128 credit hours. Each full course consists of 100 marks and all courses are compulsory; in addition, there will be a vivavoce of 12.5 marks for each Semester.

Distribution of marks of each course is as follows:
Course Final = 50 marks
Attendance = 05 ,,
Class test = 10 ,,
Assignment = 15 ,,
Mid-term = 20 ,,
Total = 100 Marks

Semester wise distribution of marks is as follows:

There will be 400 marks in each semester.

Course Final Examination is of 3 (three) hours duration
